Duke Energy Chief Technology Officer a featured speaker at KEMA Utility of the Future Leadership Forum 2011
David Mohler to explore integrating new technologies with the energy grid
BURLINGTON, Mass. (April 19, 2011) – Duke Energy Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer David Mohler will be a featured speaker at KEMA’s fourth annual Utility of the Future Leadership Forum, “Shaping the Future.” Mohler will participate on a panel of industry executives discussing integration of new energy grid technologies at the KEMA forum, June 6-8, 2011, at The Four Seasons, Denver, Colo.
Mohler will share insight into evaluating, selecting, and ensuring interoperability of smart grid technologies on the panel “Integrating New and Ever-Changing Technologies” on Tuesday, June 7. Mohler will be joined by senior executives from companies such as Siemens, Boeing Energy, and Intel to discuss rapidly emerging technologies, including those in development beyond the traditional utility industry channels and consideration for grid integration.
“Grid technologies are evolving at the speed of light from cross-industry sectors, and they hold great potential to help power a more sustainable, reliable, and affordable energy future,” said Mohler. “The real challenge today is to choose and integrate the right technologies, in the right combinations, and in the right approach relative to existing infrastructure to deliver value and benefits into the future for the entire utility community—customers, stakeholders, and employees alike. Integrating new technologies safely and securely into the existing infrastructure and the interoperability of the new technologies is a key consideration.”
The 2011 Utility of the Future Forum features one and one-half days of discussions about industry game changers, new business models, and the changing roles of utilities, customers, and suppliers. Executive-level panel discussions will focus on CEOs’ views of the future utility: the road to sustainability, gas as part of the smart grid paradigm, the integration of new and ever-changing technologies, and consumer and ‘prosumer’ engagement.
