Arnhem / Nijkerk, 18 november 2010 – De procesindustrie in Nederland kan jaarlijks twee keer zoveel energie besparen als nu het geval is. Dit zou een verdubbeling van de huidige energiebesparing in die sector betekenen van de huidige 1% per jaar tot 2% per jaar. Daarmee zou de sector voldoen aan de energiebesparingdoelstelling die is overeengekomen met de Nederlandse overheid om in 2020 30% minder energie te gebruiken dan in 2000. Voorwaarde is wel dat een drastische verandering van de werkwijze in de procesindustrie ten aanzien van energie-innovatie wordt doorgevoerd. Dit blijkt uit een onderzoek van 15 bedrijven uit de industrieketen zelf, onder leiding van energiekennisbedrijf KEMA. Het onderzoek is geïnitieerd door NAP, het netwerk van de Nederlandse Procesindustrie. De procesindustrie neemt circa een kwart van het totale energieverbruik in Nederland voor haar rekening.
