KEMA founding member of new European Association for Storage of Energy

Energy storage important element in the energy transition

KEMA and twelve other leading energy related companies have joined forces to establish the Brussels-based European Association for Storage of Energy (EASE). Energy storage is an important element in the energy transition and the integration of renewable energy into the grids.

EASE is focused on acting as a coherent voice to promote the role of energy storage as key enabling technologies for Europe’s transition towards a sustainable, flexible and stable energy system. The 13 founding members of EASE are Alstom, DONG Energy, EDF, EnBW, Enel, E.ON, GDF Suez, Hitachi Power Europe, KEMA, RISØ DTU, RWE, Saft and Siemens.

KEMA has broad expertise on energy storage. On behalf of the company, Jillis Raadschelders, Principal Consultant Energy Storage, has assumed the role of Vice-President within EASE. Previously, Raadschelders acted as member of the Board of Directors of the American Electricity Storage Association.

The creation of EASE results from the European Commission’s Energy Storage Task Force launched in 2009. The founding members have designed EASE as complementary to existing European Industrial Initiatives and to some public private partnerships.
