Overview of innovative activities

The energy sector is confronted with challenges that require long term visions and solutions. Whether it's about the market, production, transmission & distribution or end use: all employ full sail to realize an energy supply which is sustainable, reliable and affordable.

Technically and strategically
To make this energy transition feasible innovations are necessary, technically as well as strategically. Sometimes incremental improvements will do, and sometimes more radical breakthroughs are necessary. As KEMA’s business is in this energy value chain, we are supporting our customers with innovations to improve their business in this chain. Whether it’s with improved marketmodels and simulations or the users with energy efficency solutions and all in between. Now, our innovative activities are bundled in the booklet 'Innovative activities 2010'.

Focus points
 National and international goverments pave the way for a sustainable and reliable energy supply by defining focus points and raising funds. In February 2009, the US Congress enacted the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Within the energy chapters of this economic stimulus package the spearheads of the energy policy include: smart grids, electric vehicles, energy efficiency, carbon capture & storage, renewable energy, reduction and handling of waste, reliability of the T&D grid and emission reduction.

The European Union has pubished a Strategic Energy Technology (SET) Plan. This plan aims at estimating the current research and development (R&D) investments in selected low-carbon energy technologies in the EU-27 funded by the Member States. Priority is given to: wind, solar, electricity grids, bio-energy, carbon capture & storage, and sustainable nuclear fission.

We bring market players together, add our own specific knowlegde and are involved until the objectives have been fulfilled, targets are met and the implementation is done.
