KEMA’s Australian practice is growing strongly. KEMA is also committed to significant growth of its consulting services in the whole of the Asia-Pacific region.
We are seeking a highly motivated Business Development professional who will lead all of KEMA’s business development activities in Australia/ New Zealand and will also support and share responsibility for KEMA’s business development activities in South East Asia and India.
Candidates must demonstrate a successful track record with the desire to excel in identifying and developing business opportunities and in winning engagements for the delivery of business and technical consulting services with major energy utility clients.
Ideally, the successful candidate will be based in the Sydney area, although this is not mandatory.
Tasks
• Relationship development with utility clients at multiple levels within these organizations
• Identification of strategic issues that are emerging in the utility landscape and the ability to clearly identify the key business requirements that are driving utility businesses
• Identification, monitoring , and development of business opportunities across the broad spectrum of consulting services offered by KEMA and throughout Australia/New Zealand and Asia
• Preparation of proposals for the delivery of consulting services
• Development of innovative approaches to consulting service delivery that can be clearly enunciated to clients
• Shared development and maintenance of a clear business development strategy for KEMA in the region
• Development of high quality marketing collateral
• Development of, and collaboration on, conference papers and presentations
• Attendance at industry conferences in alignment with the business development strategy
• Reporting to KEMA management on a regular basis with respect to status of all Business Development activities
• Meeting key business targets that ensure sustained business growth in the region
What we're asking
The successful candidate will have:
• Proven business relationships with utility personnel in Australia, New Zealand and/or South-East Asia
• Experience in interactions with senior executives in a relationship-building and business development setting
• Proven track record of business development in the energy industry – including proposal development, solution/methodology design, budget estimation etc. Appropriate backgrounds include salesperson, account manager, and related positions
• A minimum of 10 years experience in working in an electric, water or gas utility environment
• A strong teamwork ethic and high energy and commitment to achieving strong business growth
• An understanding of local/national and regional drivers for the utility industry
• An ability to quickly understand the broad spread of consulting services offered by KEMA and to identify the key differentiators and benefits for prospective clients
• An understanding of international funding mechanisms and governance requirements (knowledge of World Bank and Asian Development bank proposal requirements)
• A willingness to travel on a regular basis within Australia/New Zealand and internationally
• A willingness to work outside of reqular office hours, as required, to facilitate working with clients and peers in many different time zones
• Strong skills in working with standard computer system tools, including Microsoft Office (especially Excel, PowerPoint, Word), as well as familiarity in working with MS Project, Visio, and Access
